Together, we’re empowering Catholic men to live their faith at home, in their parish, at work and in their community
Our goal is to strengthen men and their families in the Catholic faith. Formation in our faith goes beyond mere facts or religious practice to an authentic connection with a loving God and his son Jesus Christ.
Father McGivney sought to strengthen the bonds of families in his parish and the Knights of Columbus. These programs, created for families by families, help us to live this call.
Knights are called to serve others. Our first principle is Charity – at home with our families and in our communities. When Knights of Columbus members come together they accomplish great things.
The Knights of Columbus vigorously defends the dignity of each human being at every stage of life.
In 1882, a young priest, Father Michael J. McGivney, founded the Knights of Columbus. At St. Laurence, the Reverend John T. Weyer Council #11343 was chartered on May 1, 1994. Founded with 101 men from the parish, the council is now over 400 members, each committed to serve and support our clergy and parish community. We are built on the core principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism. Fundraising efforts through brisket, turkey, chicken and sausage sales, calendar raffles, and the Lenten Fish Fry, benefit multiple charities, including Seminarians, Catholic education, Parks Youth Ranch, Boy Scouts of America, Habitat for Humanity, Child Advocates of Fort Bend County, Catholic Charities and the Laredo Medical Mission. It’s one thing to say who you are. It’s another to live it, to put your values into action. That’s what we do at the Knights of Columbus. Come join us every Friday this Lent at the KC Fish!
The Knights welcome all Catholic men who are at least 18 years old. Our member meetings are the first Thursday of the month at 7pm, in the parish hall. Meetings are preceded by praying the Rosary at 6:15pm, followed by fellowship and a “home cooked” meal.
